This list is was updated on December 29th, 2009 and is applicable as of our release of version 5.5.5.0 of our software.

OSes are tested and agents are added regularly so if you don’t see your software listed, it may still be supported with either a workaround and/or an agent that we’re currently testing. Please don’t hesitate to drop us a line and ask.

For the most part, we will support OSes until the end of their support by the manufacturer.

• Other Linux distributions like Ubuntu, openSUSE are not officially supported, but should work
• The supported Linux desktop manager in Java SE 6 is Gnome, but KDE should work as well

We’re continually adding supported operating systems and agents. If your OS or software isn’t supported, please contact us as we may have a beta version or workaround.

Our system sends alerts, whether you have a failed backup, an error or even a missed backup, all via email. Without this feature, you might remain unaware that backups are failing or that larger issues exist. By insisting on selecting a backup provider that supports forwarding e-mail alerts when backups fail or encounter errors, organizations can ensure their IT staff stays on top of backup operations and receive SOS messages when troubles do arise.

With other providers, when backup operations run, files from the previous backup (such as those backed up the night before) are written over. Most organizations back up data daily (at night). With such backup schedules, little time exists to discover errors (such as an accountant realizing he or she entered incorrect data in a budget file). If such errors aren’t caught within a day, of course, the budget file with the correct data will be written over by the file containing errors that night.

With our backup service, we maintain several versions (historical copies) of the same file so you can recover from just such mistakes.

In the Advanced and Deluxe versions of our software, you can even specify how long you want to retain files for.

We offer a free 14 day trial of our software with 1GB of backup space online. All you have to do is download our software (below), install it and set up an account.

When you choose to become a paying customer, be sure to let us know your user account ID to avoid deletion of your backup files at the end of the trial.

For ODB Basic users, standard email support is $29.95 per incident, escalated email support is $89.95 per incident and escalated telephone support is $89.95 per incident.

ODB Advanced users can get escalated telephone and email support for $29.95 per incident.

ODB Deluxe users get free escalated incident report.

In all cases, immediate emergency support (max. 1 hour reponse) is $249.95 per incident.

This remains a concern when selecting an automated offsite backup provider – we’ve got you covered. Our service meets HIPAA and SOX/Accounting security requirements and data is transmitted by-default using 256-bit AES encryption and SSL security.

When creating an automated offsite backup account with our service, take care to protect the account information carefully. If you lose the encryption keys, it will be impossible to recover your data.

Our software even allows you to search for a file to be restored.

Our Windows-based Adanced and Deluxe backup software is Microsoft Exchange aware and can back up your whole Exchange database or individual (brick-level) emails as required. The licenses are low-cost and easy to add to any backup plan.

Our clients, though, are typically (and rightfully so) a skeptical crowd. So they want, or require, more than just a promise that critical data is being backed up, they need confirmation.

With our detailed and accurate backup reporting (see below) you can be sure that systems and data ere being properly backed up.

Daily E-mail Reports

Within an hour of completing your daily backup, our server will assemble and email you a report of the backup set you have scheduled.

The backup report contains an attached ZIP file which gives you file-level details on what operations occurred during the backup process. You can click on this LINK to see an actual backup report – the same thing you’ll see in the image below.

Missed Backup Reports

Our servers will alert you within a few hours of the scheduled start time of a backup if, for some reason, the backup is missed – whether the server is offline or malfunctioning.

Alternately, if you need on-demand reporting, our backup server web-interface can provide you with historical or up-to-the-minute reporting for a currently-running backup set.

We offer volume pricing discounts for those storing over 1TB (1024GB) of data on our systems as well.

If you find that it’s too difficult to budget your backup costs given the above usage-based-service, we also offer customized flat-rate plans for our clients and it’s easy to switch and upgrade. Click on the contact button at the top of the website and we’ll typically handle your request within a couple of hours and you’ll only pay the difference between the plans on a pro-rated basis if you make a switch.
