We Have a Situation

Or make that: had.

What we had was a foreign minister with a taste for biker chicks. What we have is an international embarassment and, if there’s any justice, a ruined career.

It appears that The New Government of Stephen Harper’s foreign minister Maxime Bernier had the bad habit of leaving highly classified documents lying around unsecured at the home of his girfriend, a Model/Actress/Whatever of mature years with links to organized crime. Am I allowed to sneer all the more because she looks it, too?

Yes. Yes, I am.

“I am definitely not a biker’s chick,” says the woman who was for three years the commonlaw partner of Gilles Giguere, a major underworld figure, and who then subsequently married Stephane Sirois, a police informer and enforcer for the Rockers, a subsidiary of the Hell’s Angels.

Now, the woman in question does not have security clearance, nor does she have security responsibility, other than that borne by all Canadian citizens. But the Minister in question has perhaps the highest security responsibility in the country and really, should be a little more circumspect about where he decides to store his files.
